The DfT guidance has been updating covering the restrictions to general aviation and can be found at the below link. Read below for changes to the our Airport and Heliport's operational hours and further information.
National Lockdown access for the general public - Closed
Whilst under the national lockdown, City Airport is closed to the public. Access is only available where visiting a specific business or tenant within the Government Guidelines and Rules.
National Lockdown Operational Status - Limited
City Airport and Manchester Heliport will be operating a reduced service, with reduced available opening hours. We will be available on a request only basis (advance notice required) for any flights that are permitted under the regulations and guidance.
For General Aviation, this means that no leisure flying is permitted.
Permitted flights include;
- For the purposees of work, where it is not reasonably possible to work or provide those services at home.
- Flying training for professional pilots, for the purposes of work.
- Engine health and maintenance flights where there is a critical safety requirement to do so, and alternative options are not available. Such flights should land at the same airfield from which they departed.
Based aircraft movement requests
The airfield will be available on a request basis only, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Advance notice is required of your intended flight. This is so we can plan and arrange for staffing to complete Runway Inspections and plan ATS and fuel provision for requested movements.
You must submit your book out request by 12pm the day prior to your movement request.
Approval will be subject to staff availability and suitability of runway conditions. We may ask that you amend your requested flight time to assist. Where no requests are made by 12pm the prior day, the airfield will remain closed.
